Math Enrichment – Grade 5

This program will be taught by Sanford Lower School teacher, Leigh Jones. Get ready to have fun and work on your number sense! Games and daily challenges will make this program a winner for all who attend. This program will focus on whole number operations, number facts, and understanding fractions and decimals. Students will build on skills they have previously learned to perfect and apply new methods of learning.
This program runs from 9am – 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their group in ESF’s Senior Camp: Lower Division for remainder of the afternoon. Pickup is at 3pm.

Animation (10-day program)
Dates: July 21 - August 1, 2025 Price: $250/week
This program is taught by Sanford Upper School teacher, Gavin Gibson. From stop-motion to video games, animation is integral to the creation of appealing and entertaining media. This animation course will educate you in the fundamentals of the craft and the technological literacy of current animation tools. By the end of this course, students will be able to 3D animate a movement sequence of their choice and learn to self-improve their own animation work for the future. The course will cover the basics of animation and with focus on applied animation skills. *Sanford Students are required to attend all classes if they wish to receive school credit. This program is taught by Sanford Middle School teacher, Alessandra Vadala. What is better than a good book? How about a good book paired with a tasty snack? Cooking with Books is a fun week-long class that will allow students to enjoy a children's book as well as learn to cook a related snack. Students will go home each day with a dish they prepared themselves. While the food is cooking, they will play games, create an art project, and put together their very own recipe book. This program runs from 9am - 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their Bunk in ESF's Junior Camp: Intermediate Division for remainder of the afternoon. This program is taught by Sanford Upper School teacher, Mike Symons. Whether you're interested in journaling, novel writing, or curious to explore the power of the written word, this course will give you a chance to explore your unique voice on the page! Students will engage in all aspects of the writing process, from creative spark to publication submission! In this seminar-style writing workshop, students will keep a notebook where they respond to creative prompts and free-writes, eventually developing their favorites into complete poems and stories. They will both share their work and receive feedback as a writer and read the work of their peers and offer feedback as an editor. After only two weeks, students leave the course with a creative writing portfolio ready to be submitted for writing contests and publication! *Sanford Students are required to attend all classes if they wish to receive school credit. This program is taught by Sanford Upper School teacher, Mickey Maley. Our Engineering course introduces and engages students in the engineering design process and different fields of engineering. Students will gain a conceptual understanding of the design process through design challenges. Students will manufacture parts, collaboratively engineer solutions, and tackle real-world problems to meet the criteria and constraints posed for each design challenge. The program will conclude with student participating in a design sprint to engineer a solution to a real-world problem and build a prototype that demonstrates their solution. Please note: This class requires a 2-week minimum commitment, for the weeks of July 7-11 and July 14-18. Immerse yourself in captivating short stories handpicked by your teacher, and dive into your own choice reads to enhance comprehension and literary analysis. Explore the texts, find deeper meaning, and make personal connections that will broaden your perspective. Get your creative juices flowing with fun writing exercises and thought-provoking prompts in your composition journal. Master the art of paragraph writing, setting the stage for stellar essay writing in eighth grade. This course is your ticket to developing essential skills for a successful journey through eighth-grade English. This program runs from 9am - 12pm. This summer health course, taught by Sanford Upper School teacher Alaina Schumann, focuses on wellness and the concept of health as a continuum. Throughout the program, students will explore various topics, including the history of diseases, communicable and chronic illnesses, mental health, and other current health issues. Sanford students are required to attend all classes to receive school credit. Please note: Students who attend Health Session I do not need attend Health Session II. This program is taught by Sanford Lower School teacher, Michelle Raffo. Calling all Kindergarteners! This year you will be learning to read, write, and develop mathematical skills. Your child will also be learning to work cooperatively and grow in their social and emotional skills. Individualizing the learning experience is of utmost priority to ensure your child is getting exactly what he or she needs to soar. When students are not working with the teacher in their small group, they rotate among a variety of learning stations that reinforce the daily lessons, promote independence, and encourage problem-solving. This program is taught by Sanford Upper School teacher, Lizzy Lancellotti. Join us for a comprehensive SAT Math course where you will learn various problem-solving techniques tailored to the SAT.
