JumpStart to 1st Grade (10-day program)
Dates: July 28 – August 8, 2025
Price: $500/week
This program is taught by Sanford Lower School teacher, Laura Jezyk. Attention first graders! The key to lifelong academic success: reading, writing, and mathematics. Individualizing the learning experience is of utmost priority to ensure your child is getting exactly what he or she needs to soar. When students are not working with the teacher in their small group, they rotate among a variety of learning stations that reinforce the daily lessons, promote independence, and encourage problem-solving. This program runs from 9am – 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their Bunk in ESF’s Junior Camp: Intermediate Division for remainder of the afternoon. Pickup is at 3pm.
Please note: this class requires a 2-week minimum commitment, for the weeks of July 8 – Aug 1 and Aug 4-8. The tuition listed below is the weekly rate, not the 2-week rate.

Worried about the "Summer Slide?" Research shows that keeping up with skills over the summer will enable your child to obtain a greater sense of confidence and excitement for the upcoming second grade school year. This program is taught by Sanford Lower School teacher, Courtney Lewandowski. Jump into summer with great books, engaging math projects, and lots of ideas for creative writing! This fun-filled class will focus on reading comprehension strategies, organizing and editing stories, and complex mathematical operations such as subtraction with regrouping and the basics of multiplication. Since brain breaks will be needed, students will go on nature walks through the beautiful sunny hills and keep everyone flexible with some outdoor yoga moves! This program runs from 9am - 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their Group in ESF's Senior Camp: Lower Division for remainder of the afternoon. Pickup is at 3pm. This program is taught by Sanford Middle School teacher, Caitlin Powderly. Novels, research, and fractions, oh my! When transitioning from learning to read to reading to learn it is important to solidify the skills of annotation and taking book notes to ensure understanding. Miss Powderly is excited to introduce this technique to those bridging from elementary-style books to more sophisticated chapter books. Students will also be taught writing techniques that they will implement to construct a piece they are proud to call their own! Hands-on math lessons will be taught with an emphasis on fractions, decimals, and long division. In this class, learning will come to life! This program runs from 9am - 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their Group in ESF's Senior Camp: Lower Division for remainder of the afternoon. Pickup is at 3pm. This program is taught by Sanford Lower School teacher, Michelle Raffo. Calling all Kindergarteners! This year you will be learning to read, write, and develop mathematical skills. Your child will also be learning to work cooperatively and grow in their social and emotional skills.
