Health Session I (10-day program)
Dates: July 7-18, 2025
Price: $250/week
This summer health course, taught by Sanford Upper School teacher Alaina Schumann, focuses on wellness and the concept of health as a continuum. Throughout the program, students will explore various topics, including the history of diseases, communicable and chronic illnesses, mental health, and other current health issues. Sanford students are required to attend all classes to receive school credit.
Please note: Students who attend Health Session I do not need attend Health Session II.
Please note: This class (Health Session I) requires a 2-week minimum commitment, for the
weeks of July 7-11 and July 14-18. The tuition listed below is the weekly rate, not the 2-week rate.

Animation (10-day program)

This program is taught by Sanford Upper School teacher, Gavin Gibson. From stop-motion to video games, animation is integral to the creation of appealing and entertaining media. This animation course will educate you in the fundamentals of the craft and the technological literacy of current animation tools. By the end of this course, students will be able to 3D animate a movement sequence of their choice and learn to self-improve their own animation work for the future. Dates: July 21 - August 1, 2025 Price: $250/week
This program is taught by Sanford Upper School teacher, Mike Symons. Whether you're interested in journaling, novel writing, or curious to explore the power of the written word, this course will give you a chance to explore your unique voice on the page! Students will engage in all aspects of the writing process, from creative spark to publication submission! In this seminar-style writing workshop, students will keep a notebook where they respond to creative prompts and free-writes, eventually developing their favorites into complete poems and stories. They will both share their work and receive feedback as a writer and read the work of their peers and offer feedback as an editor. After only two weeks, students leave the course with a creative writing portfolio ready to be submitted for writing contests and publication! *Sanford Students are required to attend all classes if they wish to receive school credit. Dates: July 21- 25, 2025 Price: $500/week
Taught by Sanford Middle School teacher Anthony Bushek, this course will give students the opportunity to prepare some of the skills that will be vital to their success in sixth grade English! Students will engage in a week of activities and assignments balanced around fifty percent reading and discussion skills and fifty percent creative and argumentative writing skills. Reading assignments will be a blend of choice read and teacher assigned short stories, which will heavily focus on reading comprehension strategies and understanding a few broad thematic elements. Our writing activities will be centered around a composition journal, where students will keep all their major and minor writing assignments, from creative writing exercises to longer prompted responses. Students will specifically learn about the ins-and-outs of paragraph writing, the basics of grammatical structure and rules, and effectively translating their thoughts onto the page in an organized manner. This program runs from 9am - 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their group in ESF's Senior Camp: Upper Division for remainder of the afternoon. Explore the texts, find deeper meaning, and make personal connections that will broaden your perspective. Get your creative juices flowing with fun writing exercises and thought-provoking prompts in your composition journal. Master the art of paragraph writing, setting the stage for stellar essay writing in eighth grade. Students will develop essential skills in acting improvisation, visualization, breathing, and relaxation techniques. Additionally, they will acquire a robust vocabulary of theater terms. No previous acting experience is necessary, as this class is open to all students. This program is taught by Sanford Middle School teacher, Sophie Weber. Games and daily challenges will make this program a winner for all who attend. This program will focus on the order of operations, fractions and decimals, calculating probability and percent, and obtaining a deeper knowledge of algebraic expressions. Students will dive right into problem-solving techniques to explore all that math has to offer. Get ready to have fun while strengthening your math skills! *This class is intended for incoming 7th and 8th graders who are getting ready to take or who have just completed Pre-Algebra. Students enrolled in this course have NOT completed Algebra I. This program runs from 9am - 12pm.
