Animation (10-day program)

Dates: July 21 – August 1, 2025
Price: $250/week

This program is taught by Sanford Upper School teacher, Gavin Gibson. From stop-motion to video games, animation is integral to the creation of appealing and entertaining media. This animation course will educate you in the fundamentals of the craft and the technological literacy of current animation tools. By the end of this course, students will be able to 3D animate a movement sequence of their choice and learn to self-improve their own animation work for the future. The course will cover the basics of animation and with focus on applied animation skills. *Sanford Students are required to attend all classes if they wish to receive school credit.

Cooking with Books I

Dates: July 21-25, 2025
Price: $500/week

This program is taught by Sanford Middle School teacher, Alessandra Vadala. What is better than a good book? How about a good book paired with a tasty snack? Cooking with Books is a fun week-long class that will allow students to enjoy a children’s book as well as learn to cook a related snack. Students will go home each day with a dish they prepared themselves. While the food is cooking, they will play games, create an art project, and put together their very own recipe book.

This program runs from 9am – 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their Bunk in ESF’s Junior Camp: Intermediate Division for remainder of the afternoon. Pickup is at 3pm.

Engineering (10-day program)

Dates: July 7 – 18, 2025
Price: $250/week

This program is taught by Sanford Upper School teacher, Mickey Maley. Our Engineering course introduces and engages students in the engineering design process and different fields of engineering. Students will gain a conceptual understanding of the design process through design challenges. Students will manufacture parts, collaboratively engineer solutions, and tackle real-world problems to meet the criteria and constraints posed for each design challenge. The program will conclude with student participating in a design sprint to engineer a solution to a real-world problem and build a prototype that demonstrates their solution.

English Enrichment – 6th Grade

Dates: July 21- 25, 2025
Price: $500/week

Taught by Sanford Middle School teacher Anthony Bushek, this course will give students the opportunity to prepare some of the skills that will be vital to their success in sixth grade English! Students will engage in a week of activities and assignments balanced around fifty percent reading and discussion skills and fifty percent creative and argumentative writing skills. Reading assignments will be a blend of choice read and teacher assigned short stories, which will heavily focus on reading comprehension strategies and understanding a few broad thematic elements. Our writing activities will be centered around a composition journal, where students will keep all their major and minor writing assignments, from creative writing exercises to longer prompted responses. Students will specifically learn about the ins-and-outs of paragraph writing, the basics of grammatical structure and rules, and effectively translating their thoughts onto the page in an organized manner.

This program runs from 9am – 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their group in ESF’s Senior Camp: Upper Division for remainder of the afternoon. Pickup is at 3pm.

I Am Independent

This program is taught by Sanford Lower School teacher, Sophia Pollinger. Responsibility leads to independence which leads to confidence! For children to become independent in common home and school tasks, they need to be given opportunities to practice. This enrichment program will expose 4 and 5-year-olds to jobs that can be done at home to build personal confidence for when they come into the classroom. Students will learn through stories, crafts, and various hands-on activities that will build a home and school connection. Along with activities that will build their independence physically, they will also work through social stories and group games to practice regulating specific emotions on their own.

This program runs from 9am – 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their Bunk in ESF’s Junior Camp: Mini Division for remainder of the afternoon. Pickup is at 3pm.

Intro to Acting

This program is taught by Sanford School teacher, Clint Williams. Nervous to speak in front of a group? Want to become more comfortable presenting and performing? Well if so, this class was designed for you! Students will gain skills in acting, improvisation, visualization, breathing, and relaxation, as well as a working vocabulary of theater terms. Additionally, students will learn valuable public speaking skills in a safe space where they are free to learn the proper way to combat nerves that may impede successful speaking in front of groups of people.

This program runs from 9am – 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their group in ESF’s Senior Camp for remainder of the afternoon. Pickup is at 3pm.

This program is taught by Sanford Lower School teacher, Laura Jezyk. Attention first graders! The key to lifelong academic success: reading, writing, and mathematics. Individualizing the learning experience is of utmost priority to ensure your child is getting exactly what he or she needs to soar. When students are not working with the teacher in their small group, they rotate among a variety of learning stations that reinforce the daily lessons, promote independence, and encourage problem-solving. This program runs from 9am – 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their Bunk in ESF’s Junior Camp: Intermediate Division for remainder of the afternoon. Pickup is at 3pm.

Worried about the “Summer Slide?” Research shows that keeping up with skills over the summer will enable your child to obtain a greater sense of confidence and excitement for the upcoming second grade school year. Taught by Sanford Lower School Teacher, Jenna Newborn, students will practice with reading and phonics skills, writing conventions, and math fact fluency will be a part of our daily routine. Students will also have time to explore, create, and play both inside and outside too!

This program is taught by Sanford Lower School teacher, Courtney Lewandowski. Jump into summer with great books, engaging math projects, and lots of ideas for creative writing! This fun-filled class will focus on reading comprehension strategies, organizing and editing stories, and complex mathematical operations such as subtraction with regrouping and the basics of multiplication. Since brain breaks will be needed, students will go on nature walks through the beautiful sunny hills and keep everyone flexible with some outdoor yoga moves! This program runs from 9am – 12pm. Children will then eat lunch and join their Group in ESF’s Senior Camp: Lower Division for remainder of the afternoon. Pickup is at 3pm.

This program is taught by Allison Jester. Novels, research, and fractions, oh my! When transitioning from learning to read to reading to learn it is important to solidify the skills of annotation and taking book notes to ensure understanding. Ms. Jester is excited to introduce this technique to those bridging from elementary-style books to more sophisticated chapter books. Students will also be taught writing techniques that they will implement to construct a piece they are proud to call their own! Hands-on math lessons will be taught with an emphasis on fractions, decimals, and long division. In this class, learning will come to life! This program runs from 9am – 12pm. Games and daily challenges will make this program a winner for all who attend. This program will focus on whole number operations, number facts, and understanding fractions and decimals. Students will build on skills they have previously learned to perfect and apply new methods of learning.
